The Netherlands' famous expat tax break makes up to 30% of your salary tax-free. See what that's worth to you — then how to actually get it.
The employer files with the Belastingdienst. Sign a "30%-ruling" employment contract, then submit within 4 months of starting (fee ~€423) to have it backdated to day one.
Register at your gemeente for a BSN (citizen number) within 5 days of arriving or risk a €325 fine. It's free, and the 30% application needs it.
Once you have a BSN, register for DigiD (your digital ID for tax, banking and government). Activation code arrives by post in ~3 working days.
Tax, housing, what's on — the free daily brief, launching soon.
